I am a coach for Butte United in Chico. We play in Region 6 which is mostly the Sacramento area. I wanted to inform you all that today, yes 8 days after registration closed and we were accepted, the region 6 coordinator informed us that their "board" decided that all U9 and U10 teams from our club should play all of our games on the road so that all of the teams in Sacramento did not have to travel because 2 hours was too long for a young child to travel to play soccer. I read that to mean that they are better than us. I am pissed off beyond belief and just wanted to spread the word around to see what everyone thought about that.

NorCal Premier League - It's about the kids (well, only if you live in Sacramento. If you are in Chico, sorry, you must be second class . . .)

I wanted to add that in Chico we have to travel at least an hour and a half to play any sort of competitive game whether it be in NCP or CYSA. We are the only competitive level club north of Sacramento that is in D6. I feel that we are being discriminated against for our location (notably that we are not in Sacramento). They seem to be telling me that 2 hours is ok for a child from Chico to travel for EVERY game, but it is too much to ask for a child from Sacramento to travel ONE TIME to a game in Chico. Wasn't the performance bond made to ensure this sort of thing did not happen? We had 5 teams in NCP last year and this year our entire club of 15 teams made the switch and I am starting to think that was a bad idea. We want to play at the highest level we can but playing every game on the road is simply not an option and registration for CYSA ended last week. It is interesting that NCP is starting to look like the worse option the longer it is in existence and CYSA is looking better again. Any suggestions, help, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Registration for CYSA CCSL has been extended to the 15th and even beyond if the club wants to pay an additional $75

We loved having Chico in the CYSA D6 u10g (and others) Metro league last year. Our older u19g team traveled once a year up to Butte CC for their game v their Butte counter parts. The travel out your way wasn't an issue for us. I 100% agree that the travel should be both ways.

Yes, they actually told me that I would not be playing any of my games on our home field! Here is the actual email that Julie Padilla sent to us with our list of "options":
I have received a response from the Region 6 Board of Directors. They have decided that you have 3 options:
1. You can play all away games.
2. You can find a field in Yuba City to play home games and opposing teams will travel to Yuba City.
3. You can withdraw from NorCal Fall League (with a full refund) and play in a league within Butte County.
Please let me know what your teams decide. I have cc'd the team managers on this email to make them aware of the situation.
Thanks,
Julie Padilla
NorCal Regional Coordinator
Note that there is not a league in Butte County. Anyone with half a brain could figure out that Butte United covers all of Butte County. What a Joke!

We have 15 teams in Norcal. This only applies to the U9 and U10 which is 4 teams for us. I feel that these teams will go play in Calsoccer and the older teams will stay in Norcal. Our next board meeting should be interesting . . . I sent an email to the norcal board requesting that all of the teams involved forfeit their entire performance bond. This is exactly what it is for, right?

Absolutely that's what the bond is for except the league is sancitoning their actions.
Take all 15 teams and go back to CYSA...unreal.
