Hello-

Our girls team is playing in the Pleasanton Rage showcase this weekend- July 20-22.  We had a few injuries and we need girls who want to guest play.
Our team is United FC White- we are playing in the SUPER-1 G16 flight.  We are traveling from SoCal and we really need a few girls who want to play.

We are happy to have defenders, mids or forwards (we have 2 GK's).  If you would like to play with us, please contact me at Karl.Simonian@gmail.com asap.

Thank you.

Since this post is regarding the Pleasanton Showcase, does anyone know how the tournament determines in what group to place the teams?  Usually tournaments using Gotsoccer like this one they use the rankings to decide where to place the teams, but that is not the case for this showcase. Just wondering if any one kneows the criteria they are using.

I believe they look at all different kinds of stats like what events have you played in, what leagues, scores vs other quality teams, club reputation, etc. I'm sure GS ranking plays a part but thankfully it doesn't look like it's the main criteria. With so many teams from different parts of the west region it's really tricky to determine who belongs in which group Let's hope the grass is cut this year!!

You can't read as much into Pleasanton Rage division placement as other tournaments. They focus more on matching teams from other regions up (so you don't play the same old teams you play in league and every other local tournament). Quite often you will see lower ranked teams placed in higher level divisions, and vice verse. Divisions are, however, generally based on relative team strength (I'm sure the GotSoccer rankings are one of the ways they determine this).

Thanks Zona and Lurker:

Not counting the FWRL bracket we are the highest ranked team in our age group( this includes all 6 brackets)but got put in the Super 3.  In the past month we have play 3 teams in the top bracket (Elk Grove, South Bay Force, and Blizzard) and we beat all 3 of them.

We are still in a good bracket and will be playing 3 So Cal teams and a team from WA. It should be good just wondering what criteria these tournaments use for placement.

As long as the girls are getting seen by coaches then hopefully everyone will be happy! I agree with Lurker that for Rage much of it is match-ups based on locations of the teams. It's always fun to play teams from outside of nor cal.

The primary objective of the RAGE Showcase is to provide exposure for players to college coaches. In order for this to happen players MUST get in touch with the coaches they are interested in getting expose with. There are so many options for the coaches that are attending, you don't want to leave it to chance (that a coach you want to see you will actually watch one of your matches... when you are in the game). There have been a number of very good discussions on how players should "market" themselves. Proper preparation is critical for an event like this.
Blues99 - July 16th, 2012 19:01 GMT

I like the way that most brackets have 4 teams from NorCal and 4 teams from out of the area so you get to play different teams. I also understand that this is a showcase and the main focus should be showcasing your players and winning is secondary. With so manygames to watch and limited time if I was a college coach and I had an open time slot, which if they do they are very few, I would probably spend that time watching the top bracket at what ever age group instead of the lower ones. So I think sometimes it does matter which bracket you get put in. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but that's just my rational thinking.
zona4eva - July 16th, 2012 19:10 GMT

I think if there is some free time for a coach at a showcase which is rare they often will see the more known clubs or a club who has sent kids to play at different colleges in the past. Often this is the top bracket but not always. I think as long as your in a "Super" bracket some coaches will come watch.

There are 72 coaches registered from everywhere.  Obviously the big schools in Norhtern CA will be there as well as a sprinkle of D2 and D3 schools.

FYI

72 coaches will be there.

Still looking for players- anyone interested in playing ??

Email me direct atKarl.Simonian@gmail.com

We are a top 12 team from SoCal, based on results and head to head, we are top 3, excluding the ECNL teams.

I would have expected more interest from NorCal- I'm getting inquiries from So Cal kids, it just seems to make more sense to ask a local NorCal player.

Thanks

Karl

25 u16 NorCal teams are playing in the tournament so not a lot of options for guest players. Also, this forum is more popular among the younger age groups. Good luck. I think all you need is 9 players to start the game and 8 to finish.

We prefer 11 on the pitch- but thanks anyway.

Looks like we found two girls from Alaska and one from SoCal so we are good to go.

I was told to bring a lawn mower as well.

I heard balls were getting lost in the middle of the field, that's how tall the grass was.  I guess the $975 application fee is not enough to cover the landscaping fees.  If I remember correctly it was the city's decision not to cut the grass and there was nothing the tournament could do about it.  Hopefully this year is different.  Good Luck...
eastbaysoccer - July 20th, 2012 07:12 GMT

Grass has been cut on Donlon and Val Vista.

Not sure about the sportspark.
