They're already playing in both CYSA and Norcal, right? Why would that change? With dual affiliation I would assume that they would decide which league to play on a team by team basis.

With all the drama between placer united and Gregg Thompson, was wondering if that was going to interfere with league play this upcoming season. Hope not. Region 6 will only get better with his u12 team paying NorCal premier.

A "top club" pulling from norcal for this reason isn't a "top club" in my eyes. We should all want to have the best teams compete against each-other. The "adults" need to step aside and let the kids play. I know for a fact Ajax would have loved to play the stars win or lose.

Tell that to Placer.....

@Kidsatplay
You would think Placer would be focusing on their many issues. Probably more of the same from them if this is where their focus is. Oh well, there are many venues to play top teams if the powers that be continue like this.

When you finish in the top 10 of the State Cup, you will not have any problem with attendance at your tryouts. You will experience an overwhelming amount of families attending for a chance to get on the team, most with good intentions, some who just want to chase a dream of having their kid on the best team.
You are the top #5 team based on Norcal State Cup. USA Stars currently are not a Norcal team and rumor is one large club threatened to pull out of Norcal if they were admitted. Davis and Elk Grove finished in the State #2 division. Loomis didn't play in the Norcal Fall league (CYSA CCSL?)
We will never know who the true top regional team is until we all play in 1 unified league.
Well, with Gregg Thompson coaching U12 right next door at Cal Blues, I don't think any one team can count on a monopoly of the great U12 girls in Placer County. Luckily, there seems to be a lot of talent to go around.
It's nice to see that others have responded to the naive statement regarding who is the "top team" in the Sacramento Region. As others have said, there are many talented teams in Division 6. If I were to list the "top teams" in the upcoming U12g season, it would probably look like this:
1. USA Stars (Great team, talented kids, great coach. If only they had a league to call home.)
2. Elk Grove Navy (great style of play, well coached, good program)
3. San Juan Jr. ECNL (I think the new name will draw some quality, undecided players this year. Downside, going to be a brutal try out process. Lots of competition and probably some politics.)
4. Davis (Good, solid players. Great club system. Need forwards badly.)
5. GT's Team (Should be the 1st choice for those in Placer or nearby. Should get some very good players. Downside, it's all new.)
6. Placer Red (Coach is a very good trainer, but an average coach. Should get some good players this year. At least they will develop.)
7. Loomis Storm (Many athletic kids, very dedicated and enthusiastic coaches and parents. Downside, added two more trainers/coaches this year. I think that brings the total up to 5. Not good.)
8. Sac United (good coaches, need some forwards)
9. Boca Silver (good physical team.)
10. Any "B" Team (Harder to develop when playing a "B" schedule.)
Just my opinion. Davis, EG, and San Juan all very close.

So, I know a nice little team that always seems to be a secret - the upcoming U14G Eureka Wildcats. The team played last year as the Cal Blues Eureka Wildcats, but will be playing a full NorCal schedule this year with their local Eureka Club. EYSC has been accepted as a NorCal Premier club for the first time this year.
The team won their group of 32 last weekend to win the NorCal Gold 1 Title. They also won the Gold NorCal SL title as well as five other championships last year including the Azurri PK Classic and the Sac United ST Classic.
The team is trained by Rosella Kelly. She has an outstanding soccer resume, including a national championship with Notre Dame, and she is currently the head coach at St. Francis HS. Head coach is Dave Hunter, CYSA D license with NSCAA Advantage Regional/ Youth 6 and Goalkeeper II diplomas.
The Eureka Wildcats have been a stable, family-friendly alternative to traditional club soccer. The team still adheres to a 50% play rule, and they make plenty of room for summer family time and second sports. In contrast to most club teams with price tags of $2,000+, the Wildcat 10 month program will be well under $1,000 this year.
The Wildcats are always "open" at tryouts, but this is an exceptional year for a look. The team will be adding 4 total players to the roster and they have at least 5 spaces open this year.
If you have further interest, please feel free to call Dave (ok, that's me :-) at 916-521-6667 or check the EYSC.com website for the tryout information - first date is this Saturday 2/23, at 2:30 at Granite Bay High School.

Good team Dave, you guys should do well again this year. We look forward (as always!) to playing you guys! Our tryout info for 49er United Auburn has changed slightly so I'll be posting that in a little bit. Speaking of strong D6 teams. The upcoming u14g's are pretty impressive up the region/district six way as well! SoCal care to give that ranking a go? There seems to be a player movement out of Placer so keep that in mind when doing a ranking.
As for the upcoming u12s is GT coaching the u12s or the u13s this coming season?

Mtnlady - you are quite in the know. Why would you think that a player movement out of placer would occur? The team did quite well in both league and finished in the top flight of State Cup.
The sad part is that unlike Dave Hunter who is trying to bring in kids into his program by promoting what he has to offer, you simply try to wreck and bash other programs. Sad.
I'm sure Placer will be fine as far as next year's U14s. There is a great deal of talent in the Region 6 area and for those families that want to go beyond the select level and compete at the highest level and in the best tournaments, San Juan, Davis, and Placer offer the best opportunities.
