Informed by my coach that he submitted my duaghter's name to be included in the Region 6 PDP training.  Unfortunately there isn't that much information out there on Norcal's website and I was hoping someone can share information as to what happens at this training session and their experience.  Also, is this in fact training or a tryout??  Thanks!!

PDP is a great idea.  The Northern California version run by NorCalPremier has been very disorganized at both the district and state level (to say the least!).  Unless they've gotten their act together, expect last minute notification of events (like Friday night for Saturday morning...), quality training and evaluation but in a very scattered and disorganized environment and a good deal of frustration.

But...if your dd gets selected to attend the iD2 event at home depot center it makes it all worth it!  That week is a fabulous experience.

Thanks MD for the info.  Do you know if the 'training' session is a tryout/evaluation that then leads to further training?

Yes it is. Everything they do is an evaluation opportunity.

There is no charge to attend...so far.

Our coach did not recommend anyone for PDP this year.  Three of our players were on the team last year (98-99 and one on 99-00) and it was likely 2-3 more would have made it this year for 99-00.  Why deny the kids an opportunity to tryout? Can anybody explain why?

When are recommendations made?  I thought they happened later in the season?

It all comes down to whether or not your dd's coach believes in the program or not.  In Region 5, only four or five clubs participate in PDP selection. Also, they do not have a central location for trainings so more players can participate.

Recommendations are made mostly in the spring but in our region it has been all year.  We had new girls come out tonight to be evaluated.

Try outs are already complete and the team chosen.
