I agree with your semi final picks, but if we are right, it is too bad the two SJ teams have to play each other. They must be getting sick of going head to head. I assume they will form one team out of the best players in the next year or so, surely before ECNL, and they will really be formidable then. Right now I think FCA and Mustang are the two best teams, and I'll go out on a limb with Mustang over FCA, then Mustang over Love. They all should be good games.

If Nor Cal puts the _U12 age brackets on fields too small for U11 year olds for the semi and quarter finals then its really anyones game. The fields we played on for the second round were a joke they were so small. We've played on nice big fields all year long and they give us ones that some of the girls could throw the ball in the goal on a throw in practically! It really favors kickball over skill and makes it much more likely a lucky break will decide a game.
That being said I think FCA will hand it to Mustang. I predict a 2-0 victory for them. The Holmes Love game will be interesting. It will come down to who shows up that morning. The two teams are very evenly matched. San Juan is going to have a great team next year combining the strongest of the two teams. If you judge by performance only I think FCA is the team to beat. Holmes is looking for a 4th year in a row repeat championship and Love wants to prove they can beat Holmes when it matters. Its going to come down to which set of girls WANTS it the most and really any of these games with the final four could easily go to PKs. If Norcal sticks us on the small fields again then all bets are off and it comes down to lucky break aways and not skill or athleticism. Those small fields might even set up an upset in the semi finals. Those top 4 teams lose their advantage on a smaller field.

As far as mustang and fca being stronger than love/holmes the last few games played don't show that one is clearly better. Mustang has tied Loves team in both Mustang tournaments. FCA beat Holmes with their sweeper out at the Mustang winter tournament. Holmes beat FCA and Holmes at Placer tournament. Loves team has beat Holmes in league play and tied them at Mustang winter tournament. Its really going to come down to which team wants the win the most. These are 12 year old girls and they don't always show up to play!

You raise some good points mommystop. I think the most critical one might be the field size, which indeed could lead to an upset or two.
I am fairly certain the field sizes are illegal according to the laws of the game and as modified by Norcal. I had heard the owner of the fields is a director of norcal, or something like that. Does anybody know if there is any truth to that rumor? IMHO the coaches should simply refuse to play on illegal fields. After all their hard work to get there, the girls deserve better.

Woodland fields are embarassing for games at the later rounds of Nor Cal State Cup. Luckily for this age group, they don't have to return to Woodland until their last games. Quarters and semis are at different locations.

As my DD would say, today's semi final games were CRAY CRAY (crazy!).
FCA Storm & Flames went 0-0 with minutes left in the game when FCA scored to win the game 1-0.
San Juan Love & San Juan Holmes went 1-1 through overtime and went to penalty kicks. San Juan Love team won.
FCA makes it back to the State Cup finals for the 3rd time and San Juan Love stopped the former El Dorado team (now San Juan Holmes) from going back for the 4th time.
Should be a great game next weekend

We're in the older age group but know the SJ teams well. Congrats to both SJ teams for a great year so far!
