Any other coaches or parents from current U10 teams here on the forum? Hoping to see some good conversations develop from this group over the next few years.
This is my second go-around with one playing college ball. She was a '92. The '92 forum was pretty active most of those years. I'd like to see this one be the same. I'll have to get the word out that this exists.

The SRU Thunder a prety good team. How is it that SR is putting out so many good teams? It's not like you are drawing talent from the outside, right?

Our girls just lost to them in the Mustang Stampede final 3-4. Yes, very talented team. Their center mid has great ball skills, the left striker has superb speed, and they have several kids who can really touch the ball. Plus two big, strong kids at D.
I should add that their coach exhibited the most sportsmanlike behavior in a post-game awards ceremony I have ever seen, sending a different player to shake each of our girls' hands as medals were handed out. Really a pleasant and welcome gesture and so rare in our hyper-competitive age.
Santa Rosa's usually one of the stronger clubs. Maybe not at all age groups but they usually have a few teams that do very well. I don't know if they do much SoCal travel, though, which might limit their ability to keep their top talent as they get into the olders.

My daughter is a 01 she plays for a sac united red. I'm new to this site and have not posted because not sure the proper section to post. I do enjoy reading the topics on this forum though.

Great coach and team but I'm suprised you haven't seen the handshake thing before... it's pretty common from my experience.

Saw the SRU Thunder over the weekend in the SRU Nike Cup and they steamrolled the competition all the way to a 7-0 thrashing of ARFC 03 to win the tournament. My daughter is a U9 and they played the Santa Rosa Huricanes and got shalacked by them. The Huricanes went on to win the tournament not giving up one goal in the process.
One of the reasons that SRU is so successful is that their Comp teams start at U8 and those teams usually play in the silver or bronze U9 divisions. That gives the team an advantage over alot of clubs once the team is a true U9 club. Several programs in Nor Cal are starting to move in that direction. I know almost all the So Cal teams are developing their teams at an early age. There are some clubs that have U7-U8 academies developing kids but starting at U8 it might be more productive to challenge the team by playing them up.
