There were a few proposed changes that at first glance, from CYSA N appear to limit league voting power versus the BOD for CYSA. (one vote per 50 versus 500 players). Sounds good for the CYSA board, bad for the players league influence overall, limiting everyone's influence.
Some of the league propositions looked o.k., but those weren't approved of by the BOD. Please comment on what sounds good and why: http://www.cysanorth.org/Annual%20General%20Meeting/rule_change_proposals.htm

I saw this and had the same gut level reaction... On the surface, it seems to make sense (Representative form of government, blah, blah, blah). But if you think about it, it makes it nearly impossible to initiate any change from the grass roots level. Who exactly will be voting the votes for the leagues? Perhaps it will be the powers that be at the league level, who are glove and fist with the powers that be at the state association level? Right now, it's at least possible for team representatives to band together to vote for change. Of course, this virtually never happens because the votes always come at a time when it's least convenient to attend the annual meetings.
And another thing I find interesting is that the two proposed amendment changes were submitted but current CYSA-N Chairman, John Murphy... who is not running of re-election!

I read it as it helps to protect CYSA from comp soccer and keep it at a rec level mind set. I agree that it sure looks like if passed it will give control to the current powers to be and not let anyone from grass roots make a change.
On the other hand I find the one proposal ( I think #3) that talks about giving the board to much oversight and spelling out what they can and cannot do (in regards to the area they are talking about) is opposed by the board 100% lol Guess I know the one I would vote lol.

Soccer is not a matter of life and death. It is more important then that!!

This, like almost all amendments put forth by Murphy, has no chance ofd succeeding. The board and the leagues will be for it, but why would the teams vote for it?
