Interesting development between U.S.Youth Soccer and U.S. Club Soccer today.
"Today, U.S. Youth Soccer President John Sutter released a statement on an issue regarding rival organization U.S. Club Soccer, stating it had brought about a retraction from the latter organization over requirements that teams competing in US Club-affiliated Nor Cal Soccer Leagues or ECNL, not be permitted to participate in similar U.S. Youth Soccer-sanctioned competitions."

Interesting that they publicized this. I thought this issue was mostly dead when NorCal backed off of their exclusivity rules earlier this year and retracted the statements they had online at the time.
Back on 4-25-10 at http://www.norcalpremier.com/home/387120.html they had posted a statement of Adjustments MAde to 2010 NorCal Premier Soccer Year Round League. That statement said, among other things, "Teams competing in either Phase #1/Fall or Phase #2/Spring of the Norcal Premier League will not be allowed to complete in another league at the same time. This rule has been implemented due to experience with teams who have tried to play in two leagues simultaneously - which caused not only scheduling difficulties but also exposed their players to an unhealthy number of games in a short period of time."
Within just a week that statement had been withdrawn and I had heard they were not going to try to enforce that. It appears though that ultimately they did try to do so and forced USSF to get involved to mediate the dispute.
Its too bad this situation had to get to that level, or why NorCal felt they had to punish the kids, teams and clubs that wanted to participate with them and with CYSA both.

Its no surprise. I mentioned this last summer. The ECNL rule violates the USSF "interplay" rule and would have fallen if challenged. And only a subset of mostly upper-midwest ECNL clubs were in support - had it gotten out of the "board" and come to a vote of the clubs the rule would have died a sudden death.

Indeed MD. Its not as if the bylaws are unclear either. In fact US Club especially should know better, they've been the beneficiaries of this bylaw in conflicts with the YSAs for the last several years. To find them trying to promote exclusivity now with the NorCal and ECNL type leagues is rather funny.

To be completely fair, it was never US Club Soccer that was promoting this. It was ECNL. While they do play under US Club Soccer registration they are a completely separate organization. I seriously doubt US Club Soccer was every in favor of this violation of the interplay rule.

I would agree MD, in fact when Norcal forbid our younger team to play in the play days (u9-u11) US Club tried to step in and help. We were registered US Club but played CYSA league. Norcal told us we had to be in the Norcal league to play, US Club registration meant nothing to them.
