Quoted from: loomisdad, January 25th, 2013 04:08 GMTAny other teams dealing with flu issues?
It couldn't hit at a worse time.
Unfortunately, it is all over the place, starting last week. We've got stomach flu on one team, and fever/aches/sore throat on another.
Hope your team recovers quickly.

Weird weekend for the Mustang teams. The Legends were hit hard by the flu and then played an MVLA team that really showed up to play. Props to MVLA--they were impressive! Now Mustang has three teams in the same bracket (State 2, 9-16). Two had to play each other today, and now two will play in the semis also.

We had 2 girls with the flu,one did not come back on Sunday.1 with a sprained knee 2 went down with ankles against De Anza.My little girl got kicked in the face against Los Gatos kinda took her out of her game.It has been fun and we are very proud of the girls. We did make the Premier 1 group.Hats off to the Mustangs having 3 teams in the 9-16.I know you would have liked one of them in the top 8 but still a great season for your age group.Great job to Loomis as well .

Really sorry to hear about your daughter and the rash of injuries. There is never a good time for injuries or flu, but State Cup is a particularly bad time. I hope they all heal quickly. My daughter made it through the game yesterday just a little under the weather, but the flu/fever hit hard last night.
You are right, the Legends are very disappointed. I think they belong in the top 8, but, well, they lost, and this system is draconian in the later stages with regard to losses. On the flip side, I am sure the XPlosion (third team) are thrilled to be where they are, and I imagine Mustang as a club is happy to have three teams in the top 16.
And, yes, congrats to Loomis!

I think its fair to say that both State 1 and State 2 have teams that many expected to be elsewhere.
Did anyone else get the feeling as goalies were punting it to eachother throughout the games that it was definitely time to move onto a bigger field?

At u11 especially end of season the fields are definitely getting too small. Even more so for the boys. The punting game is maybe one reason why rankings and wins below u12 mean less. Somewhat bad but athletic soccer gets rewarded over skill. (Ranking should not mean anyway much given development phase of game for the kids) I know it won't be possible but keeping 8v8 i really like due to number of touches but slightly longer fields for u11 would be great. Anyways I am not sure how many other states finish their outdoor soccer cups in January. :-)

It did look as if the goalies had superman legs.lol..I did notice that teams that play the big ball had some trouble keeping the ball in play.

Any predictions for the final 1-8 outcome? I'm going out on a limb with Ajax as No. 1....
2- Santa Rosa
3- MVLA
4- Pleasanton
5- Loomis
6- San Juan
7- DeAnza
8- UC Premier
